Scientists and solar eclipse enthusiasts however are looking forward to seeing a total solar eclipse on July 11 at Cook Islands. The solar eclipse which will probably last for 5 minutes and 20 seconds will start at sunrise.

Still plenty of time to watch the World Cup Final. I might even try to watch both, in a while.

Before an ls2208 scans the price of clothes that you are buying, have you ever thought about how these clothes were manufactured?

Have you ever heard of the word sweatshop?

Sweatshops are sweat factories, being called as such because the working environment is dangerous and difficult for the workers. There have been reports of child labor being enforced especially in developing countries or those considered as third world.

Here is a video of a shopaholic who visited India’s sweatshop. The sweat shop in the video seems to have better working environment compared to some.

We can’t stop child labor much as we can’t stop sweatshops from being put up one after another.

Here is another video about children in sweatshops.

I really want to continue with my on-again-off-again love interest with running. I even take womens multi vitamins to boost my energy level.

Everything should be cool right? If only I wake up an hour (and a half) earlier to be able to do just that: run without seeing people on the streets where I live. But how can I wake up earlier, I stay up late to watch something for writing assignments? Excuses!

When I mean people, I mean people, since we live a block away from informal settlers littering on the streets day in and day out.

They heckle, cuss, walk without shirts on even if they big bulging tummies and wear jejemon caps. Gah! It is understandable one would desire to go out without them in sight. I don’t mean to discriminate but…

Tomorrow, the faithful will celebrate Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday in the modern and commercialized Philippines mean going on egg hunting and having Easter Sunday parties. Hey, no offense meant, this is a great family bonding activity after church obligations have been fulfilled.

Easter Sunday is so much more than just egg hunting.

For vacationers, this day means they go back to work the next day, dealing with bosses and clients, reading insurance blogs or whatever it is that they do to earn a living.

When I was young we used to go to the beach for Easter Sunday celebration where the pastor talks about the significance of Easter Sunday. We’d go egg hunting after the service, before taking a plunge in the cool waters of the almost uninhabited beach which by now I am sure is full of vacationers.

Sometimes the eggs can’t be eaten because these have been buried in sand and well, has been sandy all over

Sometimes one would get “lucky” and sit on a hidden egg. No need to go dig in the sand anymore, yipee!

I miss those times when things were simpler.

I gotta go to sleep now for we have an early morning church obligation. I hope the kids would be able wake up

A lot of home break-ins during Lent happens. The reason for this would be because people are vacationing elsewhere due to several days of non-working days. One of the times home break-ins happen is when people attend dawn masses before Christmas.

I am not joking about this if you think I do. These articles here and here from a broadsheet confirms what I am talking about: home break-ins during Lent.

Ironic considering the country is predominantly a Catholic country.

So what are the homeowners supposed to do to prevent home break-ins during Lent when they will leave their homes for a few days? Here a a few helpfult tips:

Lock your homes securely. Keep the valuables (like jewelry, cash and important documents) in sturdy containers like mmf drawers or vaults that hard hidden from intruders or better yet, bring them elsewhere.

Stop newspaper subscriptions several days before your vacation. Piled up newspaper in front of your gate means there are no people inside.

Use automatic timers for lights on certain times of the day.

Lower the sound of our telephone’s ringing. Or better yet, just turn off the ringer.

Ask a neighbor you trusts to keep an eye on your house for you.

Try to make your home the same as when you are away and when you are there.

Encourage not these people who have dark motives of doing home break-ins during Lent. Being a victim is not a good thing.
