Tomatoes and Eggplant Pasta

Eggplants, garlic, onions and tomatoes cooked in a little olive oil for my spaghetti noodles. A little less sodium oyster sauce to add flavor.

spaghetti

The kids ate this, in fact they even enjoyed it because they had clean plates after a few minutes.

I don’t think I’d be needing a quick weight loss program if I eat like this. But if I reach for that chocolate bar for dessert…

Happy weekend!

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

I only watched part of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC after I watched Dateline and wrote a blog post while it was being shown. Wasn’t able to watch Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in its entirety (though I saw Justin Bieber, LeAnn Rimes and Enrique Iglesias perform before fireworks were shown) because I just rested my tired and sleepy eyes for a bit and I just zonked out.

When I woke up the other half was done. This happens a lot lately, like I can sleep at the drop of a hat.

It is no wonder that I have dark circles since I wake up before 4:30am to prepare packed lunch for the school children.

When I don’t need to go to work, I usually go back to bed and take a mid-morning nap so that I have enough energy to last me through the day. When I have to go to work though is another story. I’m like a zombie walking.

And yes, my other mommy friends complain the same thing too: waking up too early and not having enough sleep. And now I read this sleep problems contribute to weight gain?

I’m doomed.

Trouble in the Neighborhood

I am “listening” (meaning webTV is on) to Dateline and got interested in the story about Emery Kauanui Jr who got killed tragically by a group called Bird Rock Bandits. The supposedly safe place they live in had hidden violence, it seems.

There are those whose sons and daughters got caught up in situations like these. I have blogged about my concerns in our neighborhood a few times already. I really hope and pray that nothing like this happens to us. As my daughter said a few times, “bayaan mo sila magkagulo sa labas basta wag nila tayo idamay” “Let them have trouble among themselves, just leave us out of it.”

If only it is as easy as that. Not when I hear heckling from a group of young men walking outside or a young couple berate each other and beat each other physically on the street. In front of our gate. Sigh…

Bench Uncut

The much anticipated Bench Uncut Denim and Underwear Show caused quite a lot of excitement among those who keep up-to-date with the fashion world, be they people with real fashion sense or just wanna-be fashionistas who try hard to be like those in the first group. There are also those boy-girls who scream their hearts out when they see guys wearing clothes and walking ala-Incredible Hulk. Heh.

Anyway, try Googling Bench+Uncut and you get hundreds of thousands of posts. Some photos here.

I could not imagine how many hours these guys spend at the gym, sweating it up, pumping iron, eating protein-rich food to have those washboard and six pack abs. What? vigrx? Can’t say for sure though since they look well, errr… look full dressed only in their undergarments.

Bench Uncut. There are those who say it means, well, uncut, whatever it is 😀

Tobacco Packaging Warning Messages

Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous to Your Health says some of the labels at the back of cigarette boxes. Here is a page about Tobacco Packaging Warning Messages that tells how countries “tell” their smoking population about the dangers of smoking.

So what do smokers do to stop smoking and live a healthier lifestyle? Use electronic cigarettes? Nicotine patches? Chew gums?

With cigarettes being bought by just a piece or several pieces in this country, children are prone to try smoking and give that “cool” look. Vendors sell these to them too. Yes, most smokers start young. And they die young too.
