I Am Not a Snob

I am not a snob. If people see me and wave at me but I don’t wave back, I am not snubbing them. If you feel that I stare at you, don’t worry, I am not measuring you up or down.

Truth is, I have bad eyesight. I can’t even read subtitles in the movies nor see what is written on the food menu of fast food places around me. I am almost blind in a room lighted with white light.

Yes, either I get a new pair of eyeglasses, a +2.50 prescription a year ago. I am seriously considering a lasik surgery Mexico package except that I don’t have the budget for the Mexico part :D

Maybe I see no need to wear glasses yet again except of course when I need to read movie subtitles. Other wise, I am just fine, thank you very much :D

I’m Hitting the Pavements. Again.

I did my morning rounds today and I was surprised that one old lady talked to me while I was walking. She said “tagal mong nawala” which roughly translates “I haven’t seen you for a long time” :D

Yes, it took me a while a looong time before I decided to hit the pavements again. From  my last walk, it was December 13, based on the pic on my camphone.

My reason for going back is not because I aim to run the shortest distance there is in a marathon (I would get there in due time, :D ) but because I need to have a fitness routine which can make me feel invigorated at least, for the rest of the day.

Lately I have noticed that I have been feeling lethargic and I could sleep before one can even finish saying “natural sleep aids” which I probably have no need of. I can go into a sleep-induced oblivion at the drop of a hat.

I don’t think this is because I wake up at an ungodly hour because my eldest daughter needs to be fetched by the school service early nor it has to do with spending time in front of this gadget.

For now, I will will myself to take those little steps to be healthier.

Fitness Regimen or the Lack of It

Saw a friend the other day and I was surprised at how much she lost weight. She talked about her quick weight loss program as well her strict  fitness regimen. Hmmm… it sure is fun to lose weight with buddies it seems.

I used to do morning walks/run two-three times a week but I have lost interest. I only got a play list to accompany me. I see a group of elders who also walk but since I do not know them I did not want to introduce myself to them so I could join them.

I told myself at the beginning of the year that I should step up the yoga that I have started last year but none of that happened. Yet.

At least the family and I do a  once a week walking/running habit. (like its enough huh?)

For now, I need to get up and do something about that slice of chocolate cake hubby and I shared a while ago :D

Dirty Air

Dirty air, among others, causes a lot of health problems.

I know because my son is having asthma attacks now and I am suffering from allergy right now, with my eyes all red and itchy too. Achoo! Excuse me.

Asthma season is in I think, since we have been having gray skies for days with drizzles now and then (yeah, I sound like a weather reporter).

A friend has been looking for eczema treatment because her condition has worsened after the holidays and two culprits would be because of the food served during Christmas season plus the pollens floating all around.

Dirty air, go away! Please.

Healthy Baby

To have a healthy baby is every mother’s wish. A baby’s health condition begins in the womb, where even before conception, a woman is able to take care of herself and be well enough and strong enough to conceive a child.

If a woman wants to conceive a child, then she should consider stopping smoking, drinking alcohol, having proper nutrition and not consider taking substances that tend to be abused.

Upon conception, the mother/would-be mother should take extra care of herself: going regularly to prenatal check-ups, taking lots of rest, eating healthy food, taking in prenatal vitamins, avoiding getting too stressed, basically maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Fiber Rich Food

Someone I know recently underwent a colon cleansing treatment from a spa/therapy/treatment health and wellness center. I am not sure if she is taking colon cleansing pills but what I know of was she went through an oral cleansing regimen by ingesting food with lots of dietary fiber.

In our household we try to do some things differently by doing some changes in our food intake to make sure we have fiber rich food to help and digestion and fecal movement. Ewww? No, its not.

We have brown rice which is said to be rich in fiber. We have coffee that has green beans. We steer clear of food rich in animal fat. We have fish and white meat as part of the diet more than we have red meat. Processed food has no place in our meals and we try to avoid these as much as possible. Fruits and vegetables are regularly consumed.

These are just a few of the little steps to be done to ensure that health is given priority without denting the budget. It is doable.
