    I was still in school when the money to build the Carillon was given to UP. I remember there were critics who said the money could be put to better use by using it for scholarship grants. They may be right but it would have only benefitted a few but the Carillon over the years became a symbol and a source of joy to many students and alumni of UP. It is still there and probably will be so for many more years to come.
