iBlog4 Summit

GreenBucks was at the iBlog4 Summit held recently at the Malcolm Theater in UP Diliman.

Topics ranged from Blogging Basics for newbie bloggers, going problogger, PhotoBlogs, Blogging in time for the election, Mindanao bloggers and blogging for advocacy.

Could be more topics. Last year, topics about SEO, internet law and copyright issues, problogging, increasing site rank, blogging and the old media, blogging issues and internet issues in other Asian countries, and other technical stuff and other helpful stuff were discussed. I was sure these were helpful, I just didn’t know what these were before. Wouldn’t hurt if these were discussed again, sort of a continuation.

My 2 cents? Do what happened during the earlier iBlog summits, create subgroups where people can choose what they want to learn about.

Here are the other posts about iBlog4 which I got from Aileen‘s post “Lessons I Learned…” (thanks, I hope this is just 10% of your post, haha!)

Hi there, just dropping by to say Hello,

I found your blog from the Big Bang Master List.

    Have a nice day.

Thank you for the suggestions. I hope this backgrounder can help.

In iBlog2, there were breakout rooms for groups interested in particular topics and we got complaints as no one can be in two sessions at a time.

Last year iBlog3 was 2 days, which others complained as too long, and the attendance didn’t came out strong as well.

This year, we stick to one day to maximize attendance. For topics, we basically rely on volunteer speakers. There were a lot of free and small fee forums prior to iBlog4 that tackled problogging, SEO, and legal.

We also went back to basic as iBlog2 and iBlog3 got complaints about focusing too much on making money on blogs.

Once iBlog5 planning is in the works, we normally make a sound off for topic suggestions and call for speakers, it will be great if you can give suggestions that can be relevant when that time comes.

Cheers and thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

You may want to follow the format of WordCamps. WordCamp Dallas 2008 lasted two days and there was lots of interest throughout the event. The first day emphasized blogging from a blogger’s perspective. The second day had more information for developers.

Janette, I am very much grateful to the efforts you have put into getting this event done. The setting last year, though two days, was really worth it because of the diversity of topics. Some of the topics this year could be a little too much for the newbie bloggers especially about the topic of elections and advocacy. I for one, am ok with these since I have been blogging for some time. Newbie bloggers are for writing and other technical stuff and perhaps learning about online earning. The setting about having simultaneous topics seem good too since we can choose to listen to and learn more about topics which interest us most.

Oh well, you can’t please everybody but I am truly grateful I was able to attend this year’s summit because I am interested to learn new things.

Thanks and I hope that your projects would be as successful as this one 🙂 Till the next blog event.

Thanks, Mike. I plan to write about what I has been discussed there. WordCamp seem to be very informative. I hope WP can set up one such event here in the Philippines because there are a lot of WP users here.

Thanks for dropping by. I have been to your blog and your posts are very very informative and helpful. I will come by again soon 🙂

Hi, I’m a newbie in blogging and having a hard time learning the ropes of it. Do you know any upcoming seminars about blogging 101 or anything about blogging?

I’ll appreciate any information from you.

    Cheers!
