Home Break-ins During Lent

A lot of home break-ins during Lent happens. The reason for this would be because people are vacationing elsewhere due to several days of non-working days. One of the times home break-ins happen is when people attend dawn masses before Christmas.

I am not joking about this if you think I do. These articles here and here from a broadsheet confirms what I am talking about: home break-ins during Lent.

Ironic considering the country is predominantly a Catholic country.

So what are the homeowners supposed to do to prevent home break-ins during Lent when they will leave their homes for a few days? Here a a few helpfult tips:

  • Lock your homes securely. Keep the valuables (like jewelry, cash and important documents) in sturdy containers like mmf drawers or vaults that hard hidden from intruders or better yet, bring them elsewhere.
  • Stop newspaper subscriptions several days before your vacation. Piled up newspaper in front of your gate means there are no people inside.
  • Use automatic timers for lights onĀ  certain times of the day.
  • Lower the sound of our telephone’s ringing. Or better yet, just turn off the ringer.
  • Ask a neighbor you trusts to keep an eye on your house for you.
  • Try to make your home the same as when you are away and when you are there.

Encourage not these people who have dark motives of doing home break-ins during Lent. Being a victim is not a good thing.
