Goodbye, Lola D

Hubby’s grandmother passed away three weeks ago. She died at 90+ years old. She was not really sick because she had illnesses or other condition, she was weak because she was old already. Her long life can be attributed to healthy living and healthy eating.

Healthy eating is something we take for granted, in favor of yummy eats that clog the arteries, fatten the liver, make blood sugar high and do unwelcome things to the body. Would you rather do funeral planning guide for your love ones or spend a longer time with them?

A nutritionist once told us in a talk and cooking demo that the best way to go would be to die a natural death than die with tubes attached to the body. The former was how Lola D left.

Belated Father’s Day Post

Father’s Day came and went but we weren’t able to celebrate because the husband has to be away for family matters. I was left behind to attend to the kids since this week was the first week of school.

It doesn’t really matter if we celebrated or not, we try to show how we love each other day in and day out. There’s no doubt that the children adore their father and that he in turn, loves them so much.

Live each day as if it’s your last. It may be a bit harsh but we can’t turn back the clock and feel we have not done enough to show we love our family.

School Play

I still feel proud whenever I remember my son’s role in their drama club’s major play: The Cat Painter.

They performed three times and each performance was way better than the previous one. I think it helped that they had good lighting during the last performance, with big speakers, chandler limited, different lights as well as more adults in the audience 😀

He is the lead role in the play and though I rehearsed with him for his lines at night, he is the one who memorized all his lines without help from me. It was not a surprise then to learn that he also memorized almost the whole script. Well, not everything but majority of the play lines.

I am not sure if he will still join the Drama Club next year but I hope he does 😀

Green Juice

Green juice, anyone?

juice

This is a combination of pechay, cucumber and coconut juice. Definitely a healthy thirst quencher.

Online Deals for Gadgets

I am a big fan of groupon sites though I have stopped buying for now. We’ve bought several restaurant deals, food deals and tech gadget deals. One of the latest we got was an Archos Key MP3 player for my youngest daughter. The son’s MP3 player was also from another deal though it is a different brand name.

The kids expressed wanting to have an Archos tablet for browsing (mostly watching YouTube videos and playing online fun games) but we missed the deal on this one. I think it was because I already ordered and paid for the MP3 player when I saw it.

Maybe next time, we’ll get this for them. In the meantime, they are using the my and my hubby’s smartphones since they are on vacation with our parents.

Can’t Sleep

It’s 3am and am already up. I can’t seem to sleep well and I don’t know why. Maybe it is the summer heat since I woke up to drink a glass of water. Maybe because I slept early. Or maybe because the foam mattress is not as comfortable as it used to.

Last Sunday the family was up at this same hour, getting ready to go to our run, which I haven’t written about yet

Been extremely busy with the children’s activities. I think we still have two or three activities to hurdle, the biggest one would be the third trimester exams and the overnight camping for the Scouts.
