We Love Lemongrass

We have been using lemongrass in more ways than one.

For the kids, the product Stingless Citronella Oil to ward off the mosquitoes that may cause dengue.

For cooking, we love lemongrass in mussels, chicken tinola and Hainanese Chicken.

For drinks, I put lemongrass stalks in juices and even in water to make it more refreshing. When I have allergies, I drink a cup of warm water, steep a stalk or a little  bulb of lemongrass, a tablespoon of honey and a garlic slice in the water to relieve myself from all these uncomfortable feeling. It works like a miracle!

I still have a lot to read about the benefits of lemongrass on skin care if it works fine with skin conditions like the way psoriasis products or skin cleansing products work.

I know lemongrass can be used for pets with fleas and help sooth tired muscles.

We love lemongrass. Obvious, isn’t it?

Signed Up to Run

I’ve signed up to join a run in November. It has been months or years perhaps since I’ve done my morning rounds where we live. Not that I am lazy or anything (who am I kidding?) but I feel going out is something I don’t really look forward to since there are so many undesirable characters roaming the streets.

The kids and I are supposed to enroll in fitness programs but since these have started already and we will miss a couple of sessions if we enroll, hubby and I decided to defer. One of the kids want to enroll in soccer and running while the other one likes swimming. Swimming is not a good idea at this time of the year because the weather is erratic and the water could get very cold. I know for a fact that these pools raypak heat pump of any other heating system.

I still hope we can enroll next semester so we will start scrimping here and there to be able to have everyone enjoy a class. Or maybe two.

Missing the Little Girl

Wasn’t it just a few months ago when she was a teeny tiny cute bundle of joy? Well, she still is a bundle of joy, but not teeny tiny anymore. It feels like “celebrating your newborn” was what we had in mind, even if she is not technically our own newborn, but rather a newborn in the family, a new addition to hubby’s side of the family.

Yep, the baby in the family has two little teeth coming out.

The cousins miss her already.

Orange Flowers

Typhoon Mina is currently battering the northern side of the country with “Maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and Gustiness of up to 200 kph”.

I’m sure the wind spinners are up there are going round and round wildly, if they are still standing up.

This same weather disturbance gave us a hard time when I went with my youngest child on her field trip to Pampnga last Wednesday. We had to endure the alternating rain shower and sun shine which gave me a headache. Gah! Good thing she has an almost water-proof jacket to wear because I, the super mom, forgot to bring an umbrella.

Anyway, I took a few flower photos when we visited and this is one of the photos that I like albeit the flowers are orange!

orange flowers

I love flower photos like this one. FYI, am not particularly fond of orange and I like this not because I was the one who took the photo. I know that anyone with a camera can take this kind of photo, right?

End of the School Year Rewards

Some friends overseas are ecstatic as school-year end came because their children had school awards. I don’t doubt that’s likely to happen since Filipino children (well, not all of them of course) overseas have more discipline when it comes to studying.

One friend was even asking what would be good graduation gifts for boys she can give her sons. No, not the newest hand-held gadgets, was the consensus from us moms. We suggested books, new clothes, a mini-vacation and new toys!

My children have their own little rewards too at the end of each school year. It make them look forward to getting these little gifts especially when they’ve worked hard in school. 🙂

Family Special Events

Children’s birthday parties are fun. I enjoy watching children play games and enjoy themselves. Of course, there are those who are… never mind.

Baptisms, on the other hand, are special events I love to attend too so I get excited when we get Baptism invitations. Not only the child is being welcomed to the Christian world but it is a wonderful opportunity for family members to get together and catch up.

Of course, there’s family drama and all but that’s something I don’t want to be a part of.
