Showing Off

I have a student who has an issue seeing men wearing undershirts or gym clothes when they are not in the gym anymore. He once asked me if these men are “showing off” their muscles, biceps and triceps and what-have-yous.

One time he even asked if these men take supplements or if they have natural testosterone which contribute to these muscle development.

I can not directly answer him I said because I honestly do not know. I also explained that he should not think of doing this himself, going to these people he doesn’t know, since it is not polite to ask these people questions like these.

He said he won’t. Won’t ask them but that doesn’t mean he now likes seeing them strutting around wearing these undershirts.

Sweatshops

Before an ls2208 scans the price of clothes that you are buying,  have you ever thought about how these clothes were manufactured?

Have you ever heard of the word sweatshop?

Sweatshops are sweat factories, being called as such because the working environment is dangerous and difficult for the workers. There have been reports of child labor being enforced especially in developing countries or those considered as third world.

Here is a video of a shopaholic who visited India’s sweatshop. The sweat shop in the video seems to have better working environment compared to some.

We can’t stop child labor much as we can’t stop sweatshops from being put up one after another.

Here is another video about children in sweatshops.

Civic Duties

Hubby and I participated in the democratic process and made use of our civic duties by voting for the president, vice president, senators and local officials.

I know a lot of people were disappointed with the way the elections were handled but we patiently waited for our turn to vote. And vote we did, even if our president did not win (no regrets here) and our veep is hanging by a thin thread.

Do you participate during elections?

Beach Babes and Beach Bums

Beach time means seeing beach babes and beach bums all in their glorious body form.

The babes keep hard at keeping fit through various ways: dieting, exercise, and more dieting. The bums on the other hand do a lot of fitness routines too. I hope they are not just people in good shape but with interesting things going on with the gray matter between their ears.

Do they watch documentaries? Do they read (ok, force factor reviews can qualify)? What kind of work do they do after the beach season? Are they interesting when they talk?

As one mom said about her daughter, “Pagandahan na lang” Roughly translated: Just notice how beautiful my daughter is. Or something like that. Huh?

Behind the Camera

I was sorting through so many photos when I noticed something. I am rarely in the photos.

No, not because I always have acne, which incidentally, I have one that popped up a few days ago. Argh!

Almost always, I am the one taking photos and I tend to forget to ask one of the children to take a photo with me in it. I hope when the children are all grown up they won’t think I didn’t want to have photos taken with them 😀

On Doors

Years ago, I told myself that I will take note of doors and take photos too.

I just found out that I haven’t done a lot of picture taking of doors, door handles, door hardware, any door fixtures or anything related to real doors.

door

Why should this even be significant for me?

Doors are symbolic. These can mean “opening up” or self-discovery, or missed opportunities, maybe a welcoming door, or a closing one.

Doors may mean coming inside the confines of a place someone else holds dear. Or going out of this door.

Whatever these doors symbolize is a personal issue.

Helen Keller said:

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
