Summer is Here

weekendsnaphot_button2.gif

March signals the start of summer in the Philippines. Although we have had a lot of cold mornings, these are slowly being replaced by warm breezes, if there is even a breeze at all.

Cool mornings are slowly becoming not-so-cold where we live. I would miss these, waking up still very dark and feeling chilly and sleep-deprived.

Now, mornings are warmer, especially this Palm Sunday. The sun is slowly showing itself from behind thick, gray clouds that enveloped the sky all throughout the day for the past two-three months. I dread summer days when the heat becomes unbearable. But still, we are thankful for the chance to have a lot of these:

cold fresh fruits. Melons. Watermelons. Mangoes. Star apples. Plus a whole lot more of refreshing fruits.

Isn’t God so wise He thought of making these succulent fruits in season when the weather is hot?

Hope everyone will find time to reflect about the goodness of God this Holy Week.

Please see another WS entry here. Thank you.

Page Rank 2 Again

Yes! PR2. This is better than not having PR after having lost PR4. No, not this blog but the main blog -> TeacherJulie.com

This is even better than having Manny Pacquiao win his WBC Title. No kidding.
This is got to be one of the best news that has happened to the main blog.

Thanks Sasha for doing a post about this.

Pacquiao Beats Marquez

Who? Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao of the Philippines versus Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico in a match to get the WBC 130-Pound title at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, March 15, 2008.

Yeah, after four years when their match was a draw. Was it that long ago? I am not a fan of boxing. I just wanted to know the results so I went to search for the results.

It is a victory for the country, as they say. And yes, I agree.

But would this make us a better nation? Better people?

The media even says that when Pacquiao (great, several times i have misspelled the name) has a boxing match, the whole country is watching and there is zero crime rate. That is good news for this nation who has a lot of petty crimes going on daily. Now, we wouldn’t want Manny Pacquiao fighting the whole time so there would be totally zero crime rate.

Study Hard. Get Good Grades. Find a Job.

This is what parents hammer into the minds of their children when they are growing up.

But with today’s unconventional ways of living, people do not really rely on having good education to have that dream job to be able to have some form of purchasing power.

A lot of the parents now are probably a product of this kind of philosophy which they got from their parents. I am sure this line of thinking is what exactly they are telling their children who go to school.

Sure, it is a comforting thought to have a solid educational background to up the resume. Who wouldn’t want to hire someone with an MA or MBA or PhD? Who wouldn’t want to hire someone whose GPA is somewhere near 4.0? More often than not, these people are highly qualified to apply to a job that would need their expertise. But are they up to the challenge to maintain that status they so want to achieve?
