Hot or Cold?

We live in a country where the summer is humid and very hot. When its summer, we sweat profusely and do everything to ward off the heat: eat ice cream and other cold food and drink very cold ice-cold drinks, the air-conditioner is turned on, we go swimming and even wear clothes that will make us feel cool. Others even would not readily go out of their house during these days and wait for the dusk to bite before they do go out.

It really makes me wonder why there are so many comforters where we have our laundry brought because the weather can really be very humid. What gives?

When the rainy seasons come, we experience cold weather but not cold enough to use heaters, fireplaces, comforters, or electric blanket. We do not use these things where we are located but up on the mountains where lovely vacation homes can be seen, they do use these things.

How I wish we have a home somewhere where the air is cool.

On the Wooden Swing

One of the things that children do not experience these days is going to the park to play, well, at least, where we live. One either has to live in a gated community with complete amenities like a clubhouse and a playground or one has to go to malls and pay to play in these playgrounds. Most of the children around us do not have readily have access to a park or a playground. They usually play on the streets when school is out.

As a child, I remember going to the park at the plaza, the one in front of the church. My favorite spot was where the swings were located. I loved sitting on the swing, holding on tightly to the chains and kicking the ground to hoist myself up and down, feeling the wind on my face and on my hair.

Didn’t Robert Louis Stevenson write in a poem The Swing:

How do you like to go up in a swing?
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

I would like to have my own garden one day with wooden swing sets. Even if I would not be able to swing as swiftly and as strong as I used to, I would still sit on my swing and spend quiet moments with my love ones. I have seen several gardens where there are wooden swing sets which are just there as decorations and this saddens me so. Swings should be sat on, used and not used as decorations.

Would you like to sit on a wooden swing?

Max’s Chicken Barbecue

I am sure by now you are “umay” already with my posts featuring the food from Burgoo. Just to make it clear, we don’t regularly eat there (its not the food but definitely its not inexpensive) I just happened to take some photos in the few times I have been there 🙂

Here is a meal that you won’t probably say no to: Chicken Barbecue

Sarap to the bones?

Chicken Fajitas

These are the fillings for the Chicken Fajitas, again from Burgoo. (Hey, Burgoo, I have blogged about your food several times already: here, here, here, here, and here)

The chicken fajitas come in a very hot pan. It comes sizzling hot. There are two kinds of sauces: salsa and sour cream plus cheese as extra toppings)

Yummy. This is good for two or three persons, depending on one’s appetite 🙂
