Dream Vacation

I have a not-so-short bucket list of the wonderful places I want to visit before I breathe my last breath:

  • Grand Canyon
  • Mesa verde
  • Death Valley
  • Yosemite National Park
  • Puget Sound
  • Acadia National Park
  • Vermont
  • Morocco
  • Iceland

I know naming these places seem so far out of my reach but as long as one is alive, one can dream, right? Even just ONE, just ONE from the list will be good enough for me.

With regards to choosing hotel accommodation though, I choose to go all-out though and that would have to be THE Bellagio Las Vegas

Why so?

I want to watch the Fountains on the Strip where about a thousand fountains dance to music and light.

Cirque du Soleil weaves an aquatic tapestry of artistry, surrealism and theatrical romance in the timeless production, “O”.

With newly, renovated rooms, I am sure a stay in the guests rooms with pillowtop mattresses, down comforters, marble and wood bathroom vanities, among others, will make the travel, the stay (and the bill!) worth it.

There’s another adventure I would like to try while in Vegas, and no, not the slots machines nor the casinos but Cowboy Trail Rides! Not that I am a good rider, nope I’m not but to see the the natural beauty of the place like Red Rock Canyon and Fossil Ridge are some things I would like to try. What better way to cap these trail rides and rest these tired bones while staying at Bellagio Hotel.

I am not optimistic these travels would happen, in fact, these may not happen at all except in my mind. But who knows, maybe some day when all the children are done with school, my hubby and I can indulge in something for ourselves 🙂

Minecraft

The children love playing Minecraft. I also know of several children who are so into Minecraft.

There are times, when my kids are not allowed to use the bigger gadgets so they just use the demo versions in their phones and play hide and seek. In Minecraft.

Wondering what Minecraft is?

Throw the Junk Away

It has been 15 years exactly on this date since we moved into this home.

From one child we now have three. From a clutter-free home we now have a clutter-filled one.

De-cluttering is something I do every year but it seems that the junk still continue to accumulate because I don’t get rid of these, I just found other ways to store these out of sight. Getting the junk out of their hiding places is therapeutic for me because I get to assess what needs to get rid of and what needs to stay. Last time I de-cluttered, I found my unfinished cross-stitch patterns, some curtains I have forgotten, a hammer that hasn’t been used, and a pair of scissors I have been looking for.

Who knows, next time, I get to unearth the man of the house’s compression machinery mounts and small detail tools that he has been asking about.

When asked if its possible to have the old magazines donated he said yes, but only to the library of the school my late FIL founded.

Problem is, the place is just too far away so that means…. 🙁

It May Start with a Piece of Paper Clip

We may not like what we are reading about tens of billions of pesos of public funds lost that should have been used to build classrooms, roads, hospitals and used to help Filipinos (and for me, the rural folks) have better lives.

The escalation and magnitude of these theft is beyond what we can probably imagine having in this lifetime.

We seethe, we are enraged, our blood boils because of anger at the blatant action of these people who we have elected to office only to plunder the nation’s coffers.

But do you know, sometimes, all these actions may start with a piece of paper clip?

Or a few pieces of bond papers?

What about an envelope, a folder and even pens?

These things are easily pilfered by employees and I do not just mean government employees.

It is easy to get these “little” things and not feel guilty about it because who knows and who probably cares if a paper clip found its way to your bag, or a folder, or an envelope or maybe a red pen “found” its way to one’s bag?

No, this is not corruption. It is called PILFERAGE, or  theft of a few pieces or a small quantity of a relatively large shipment.

Are you guilty of this crime?

If There is a Will…

I know I’ve written so much about my guitar playing daughter and why not, I am proud to say that she can play even without formal guitar lessons, thanks to YouTube guitar tutorials 😀 It really proves that if there is a will (or in her case, a desire to learn), there are ways to get that will into fruition.

There was one person who said my child is a “musical genius”, not that she plays that well compared to others her age who have gone through formal lessons. I know she is not  a musical genius (the husband maybe, with the keyboards, hehe) but being self-taught, she has not just shown self-learning at its best but she showed tenacity and determination in achieving her goals even without assistance.

That is probably enough to get her a epiphone les paul traditional pro at musicians friend some day, wink, wink.

Now that is a trait we want our children to have.
