Paranoid?

Paranoid. Yes we are like that about home security.

We lock all doors at all times even if we are all at home. We lock the gates from inside when we are home. We look out when the dog is barking.

In fact we have been talking about getting home security systems since one of hubby’s clients is installing cctv in different public places. If it’s possible to get these services that has monitoring services and smoke detectors too at an affordable budget, we’d be investing in it.

Why would we not be paranoid about securing the home when we see people around who don’t look like they can be trusted. In fact some of these people used to hang out and drink (hard liquor) under the trees beside our home and thank God they haven’t been doing that for a while now.

There are gangs in the neighborhood, people who live a block away, beside the river where they’re not supposed to live. Why, just last month, the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) did a raid on the house across ours because the ones renting apparently are doing some kind of counterfeiting of bottled drinks. Sigh…

I know it sounds like I’m a judgmental person when it comes to these matters, I’d like to think I’m just concerned with the security of my love ones.

Trouble in the Neighborhood

I am “listening” (meaning webTV is on) to Dateline and got interested in the story about Emery Kauanui Jr who got killed tragically by a group called Bird Rock Bandits. The supposedly safe place they live in had hidden violence, it seems.

There are those whose sons and daughters got caught up in situations like these. I have blogged about my concerns in our neighborhood a few times already. I really hope and pray that nothing like this happens to us. As my daughter said a few times, “bayaan mo sila magkagulo sa labas basta wag nila tayo idamay” “Let them have trouble among themselves, just leave us out of it.”

If only it is as easy as that. Not when I hear heckling from a group of young men walking outside or a young couple berate each other and beat each other physically on the street. In front of our gate. Sigh…

Neighborhood Blues

Yesterday over breakfast, hubby and I were discussing about the state of the real estate market and how it was affected by the global economic crisis.

I have expressed time and again about my fond wish of moving to a new home because I have been uncomfortable where we are.

No I don’t plan to move to the Outer Banks homes, YET. If we could, we are out of here faster than anyone can say “alakazam!”

Moving is NOT an option now for us nor it will be in the next few years unless we win the lottery, haha.

For now, I will wish hard enough and work hard enough for that.
