Bangus Belly

Filipinos know this food just by its scent alone.

When I was cropping the photo, I asked my son if he knew what this food is. He said the name of a mall near where we live where I had this as well as the name of the dish, and he was right on both counts. Bangus Belly from Reyes Barbecue.

I like this better than other food eaten with rice, even before I had to lay off on meats, especially with the fat attached.

What would you put in the soy sauce? Calamansi juice? Chili?

I prefer this eaten with fresh raw tomatoes 😉

Nakakamay pa.

Sasha, we get these boneless from the supermarket. We usually get whole unflavored bangus the flavored ones are a bit spicy) and bangus back fillet which the children loved cooked ala-bistek 🙂

So true, toyomansi would be great 🙂

We always have these at home, not the belly though, not much flesh there but we have whole boneless bangus or bangus back fillet.

My Akismet is a bit sumpungin, it would moderate when it want s too, even if there are frequent visits from the same IP.

The raw tomatoes would be better pala if there are green mango slices and fresh onions, aylabit! Type din yun ng daughter ko 😉

Liza, we don’t often get the belly for home consumption, its a bit expensive and its not fleshy. We get whole boneless ones or bangus back fillet 🙂 Have you tried the back fillet?
