I am the Cook

I spent some time organizing my photos and saw the re-sized ones I have used in my blogs. I noticed that most food photos I have can be found in this blog and this other blog.

I may have to think about the best diet pill even if I am just looking at these photos πŸ˜€

I am not a great cook, nor do I pretend to be one. I can cook, yes, but my cooking is “just right” for the family’s consumption. It is when the children say that they like the food I prepared that makes my heart swell.

Oh, they would rather eat home-cooked meals they tell me.

Dinner Invite

We have been invited to dine with hubby’s relatives tonight. It’s his cousin’s belated birthday celebration along with this cousin’s mom’s birthday. Double celebration means food, food and more food.

I know it doesn’t help that I just saw a noxycut page last night and that this household sure knows how to cook super yummy dishes. Guilt trip to the max it will be when we go there tonight.

And yeah, I think we are going back a week from now because they will be having their patron feast celebration πŸ˜€

Summer Fun

Summer is almost over and the children will go back to school in a few weeks time.

They enjoyed some outdoors time in their inflatable pool. They played golf in the front yard using a new golf set that looks like the real thing though smaller. When they play golf, the pool is the lake and the cemented portion is the sand trap πŸ˜€

One thing I have not done for this summer was to get outdoor furniture including patio furniture cushions so that I can stay outdoors while I work on my online tasks and see them while they are playing. I hope its not too late to get a set of these.

Chowking Halo-halo

Halo-halo, shaved ice with sweetened and cooked fruit toppings, topped with leche flan and/or ice cream, made even sweeter with sugar and milk. This is a Chowking Halo-halo.

halohalo chowking

This is what my youngest daughter and I shared before going home when she went with me to work.

I didn’t even think about the nuphedragen review I read πŸ˜‰

I do not even want to think how much sugar there is in there, we just enjoyed the treat and the tongue freeze that this Chowking Halo-halo gave πŸ˜€

Behind the Camera

I was sorting through so many photos when I noticed something. I am rarely in the photos.

No, not because I always have acne, which incidentally, I have one that popped up a few days ago. Argh!

Almost always, I am the one taking photos and I tend to forget to ask one of the children to take a photo with me in it. I hope when the children are all grown up they won’t think I didn’t want to have photos taken with them πŸ˜€

Homemade Tiramisu

Homemade Tiramisu (or something like it) which I already featured here in my 2010 Project 365.

tiramisu

I did this homemade tiramisu before getting wedding party gifts for a friend. When we got home, it was the perfect sweet thing to have after a long and tiring day.

Ingredients:

  • broas or lady fingers dipped for a bit in bitter coffee melted in water
  • all purpose cream and condensed milk mixed together (no mascarpone cheese in our household)
  • cocoa powder
  • dark chocolate syrup (optional)

Dip the broas briefly in the coffee. Lay all the broas together. Put a layer of the cream on top of it. Continue layering depending on your broas.

Sprinkle with cocoa powder when you are done.

Chill for a few hours before serving.

Put chocolate syrup if you so desire. The children asked for some since I did not put a lot of condensed milk and the cream is not too sweet.
