Buffet Eating and Shopping

buffet

What does buffet eating and shopping have in common? If you are to eat in a buffet style restaurant, you know, those all-you-can-eat binges that you have been invited to go to or you are paying for, you have to remember a few “rules” as as not to get sick after:

  • If you are going to a lunch buffet, better have a little breakfast so that you don’t feel starved when you get there. Just like shopping, do not shop with an empty stomach nor start with a full one.
  • Make sure you are not in a rush because buffets are best enjoyed slowly, like when you go through musical instruments for sale, taking your time to pick what you think best suits you
  • Do not drink a lot of those artificially sweet drinks, better to have water (not ice cold water) and a cup or two or warm tea
  • Sample a little from each food offerings
  • Do a walk-through, looking at what the food offerings are, much like what you do at the clothes and shoes on display
  • When you feel full, stop eating. In shopping, when you know you got what you wanted, stop. If you don’t you may have to pay for more than you bargained for.
  • Save space, in your stomach and in your budget, for things may come up unexpectedly.

We Loved the Peace and Quiet

We did our annual Visita Iglesia last Friday. It has been a quiet Holy Week for the husband and I because the kids are vacationing with their grandparents, my parents and hubby’s mom.

It was a welcome respite to even not hear the children from the other side of the block playing on the streets. It was also a relief not to hear people from another street sing their hearts out like they are doing a demo at the ableton live 8 guitar center.

The coming campaign period is something I dread for all its pomp and noise especially the noise since these are just the times people “hear” from these politicians, until the next campaign period comes along.

Manila Cathedral

The eldest daughter, when she was still at a young age, once told us that she wants to hear mass at the Manila Cathedral.

Manila Cathedral

One of the reasons she gave was because she said she wants to know if the organs in the mezzanine are being played during the masses there. She said she would, for once, listen to music being played there. Most churches use speakers like exciting celestion vintage 30.

I for one would like to hear music being played that way too.

Red Umbrella

Thursday night and the whole of Friday brought about a lot of rains and so this red umbrella was put to good use:

Now we are back to having warm weather. Can’t say I miss the rains but I sure missed the cooler temperature.

Good Business Sense

There are people who have good business sense and they are able to align their concepts to what is not just the current business fad but for a long-term haul.

There is this family that I know of, because they have a financial management and accounting services based business, they are now into the printing business as well, printing out receipts and other paper-based needs of their clients. Last I heard they now have banner printing services.

This reminded me to make a banner to announce my services too so that I can re-start launching my summer programs ideas.

St Vincent Church

The last time we went to St. Vincent Church, it still had unpainted interiors. Not that that was the last time I went to church, no, lol.

When we went to hear mass there last Sunday, it looked different because of the wall paint as well as the way the lights play on the walls and ceilings.

St. Vincent Church/ Seminary

I would love to see the church with its door closed. I am curious how it looks like and if these massive doors (the doors look heavy and are decorated) have captive knobs.
