Can Friends be Business Partners?

Can friends sustain friendship while being business partners?

I hope so.

I know people who have been friends for a long time who became business partners. The friendship was affected due to this business venture. When they parted ways business-wise, they were still friends. I can’t figure out how they did that but maybe if people are really friends, they can pull it off.

There are conflicting articles like this and this.

I guess it all boils down to good planning and management so that conflicts, especially major ones, can be avoided.

Big vs Small Retail Stores

With these big supermarkets otherwise known as “hypermarket” opening at almost every available space, it is no wonder that small businesses are losing their usual customers.

Where we are staying, a big hypermarket from a big company of malls just opened up. We decided to check it out one time and although we found the usual stuff being sold in their other outlets, it is still a bit reassuring for some that such an outlet exists within a few minutes from where we live. With school children, one does not know when there is an emergency urgency to get something for school to be used the next day.

On the other hand, I feel that the small businesses in the vicinity of this big store, meaning a few minutes ride and drive, are threatened. Good if these have business insurance to back them up in times of need.

I hope these smaller businesses won’t fold up like how I see happening in the rural areas.

Investing Money

The other day, I was listening to colleagues talking about investments.

One was explaining how her mother was able to earn a lot before the stock market started plunging. It was a very wise decision through the advice of a futures trading person that they trusted to handle the sizeable amount.

Of course, investing in the stocks market during these days does not necessarily mean can earn or even get back what has been invested.

Another one further explained that some banks have investment managers who will take care of the money a client will entrust the bank to be able to get a monthly interest that is quite higher than those regular banking transactions.

Hmmm…but the thing is, this is still questionable especially since the market is vulnerable right now.

One thing for sure though, no matter how one will invest his/her money, now is the time to live within one’s means. After all, a penny saved is a penny earned.
