What is a Spam?

Spam. People associate this word with the canned good named Spam. But there is another meaning for spam and that would be:

Electronic messaging system abuse through sending unsolicited messages, usually in bulk form (more like send to all) regardless if the recipients want to get these messages or not. In other words, these are sent indiscriminately.

E-mail spam is the one that is sent regularly which is mostly about products or services being offered. There are however different forms of spam and these will show as instant messaging spam or SPIM which targets instant messaging services, online classified ads, wiki spam and internet forum spam.

Blogs have spams too, in the form of comments which is also called spamdexing. There are also those that are called splogs.

Outdoor Games

Recently, there is a tvc being played that encourages children to play outdoors.

Why? Because children have been too lazy to move and play these kinds of games because they have been too engrossed with electronic games like PS3. Not bad but then again, for me, there is more to playing with real socialization skills, creativity, laughter, accusations of unfair play and good old fun than e-games.

I for one, am a guilty parent for not encouraging my younger children to do this especially when our only son has asthma and would have difficulty breathing if perspiration will dry on his back.

In another post I wrote, I featured my children and their cousins playing a game of hopscotch outdoors, on the street. There were so many positive feedbacks with the post and I am happy that I wrote about it. I just hope schools would initiate these games in their physical education subjects so that the children would enjoy these while they are young.

Desktop Peripherals

We have limited computer hardware at home: a desktop and two laptops. With three children who love to stay in and play with their computer games during weekends, hubby and I are left with watching DVD, doing house chores or reading for me and napping for the hubby.

Lately, we have been considering getting a new desktop, once the budget allows for it. Since hubby is the resident techie, so to speak, he plans to assemble the peripherals like hard disk, lcd monitor, power supply, motherboard, video card, LAN card, and anything and everything that can be attached to the desktop.

I’m thinking not of a desktop but a laptop so this can be brought anywhere but we will consider these things when the proper time comes.
