Beauty Regimens

I asked this question before in my other blog: “What facial or beauty regimens are done before going to bed?

Most replied with the basic things to do before sleeping: washing the face with just soap.

There those who answered more, like using toners and moisturizers to keep the facial skin soft and supple.

I know, there are basic steps one needs to do on daily basis to be able to avoid acne treatments in the long run. Those who opt to get these services are not just women but men too. Surprising, isn’t it? Not so because there are men, even years ago, who have their nails done in a barber shop and clear nail polish on their fingernails but this is another story.

Times have changed. With so much pollution and dirty air, people are more conscious now of taking care of their skin. That does not just limit to the women but to the men as well.

As a matter of fact, some men are called “metrosexual” now, for they do not shy away from beauty regimens that mostly were for women only years ago like having facial treatments, hair removal, body sculpting and even liposuction (this of course is not just for the women). They also are brand-conscious and love to shop for clothes and things that will make them appear more appealing.

So now I ask this question again? What are your beauty regimens?

Healthy Alternatives

We have not been having soft drinks a lot lately. One reason is because my husband has been having upset stomach when he does. I just hope it isn’t the beginning of an ulcer.

Another reason would be our attempt in trying to have more nutritious food and drinks at home. We have even resorted to bringing food and drinks whenever we go out of the house.

It is important to watch what we put in our bodies. Becoming healthy does not mean one has to shell out large amounts to be able to be one. Those “lowly” green and leafy vegetables are wonderful sources of nutrients that we need to be healthy.

Backyard gardening is one answer to having fresh food. Buying reasonably priced nutritional supplements like Orovo is also a good thing.

There are so many choices when it comes to getting good drinks. There is a variety of teas available. We have yellow tea after dinner. The children have fresh lemon grass tea at night too. There are also drinks that provide nutritional supplements. Fresh coconut drink is also one drink that we like.

Even if we live in they city, we can still have these fresh produce as alternative to fast food.

My Favorite Television Series

Last week I did not blog a lot, except when I really, really have to. I even missed doing Litratong Pinoy in my other GreenBucks blog. My two young home schooling children and I were busy studying for the second quarter tests. The grades which were due last Friday has been submitted on time.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time away from the computer. I was able to read three books by John Grisham, started a series (The Hades factor) by my favorite author Robert Ludlum while my son were busy studying.

I was able to watch my DVD collection of tv series.

I would have loved to watch these on HDTV but I know we still have to wait awhile to be able to afford this kind of viewing pleasure. I had fun getting re-acquianted with Shawn and Gus (finished all episodes till season 3), Don and Charlie (finished all episodes till Season 3) and of course, Chuck. I even mentioned an episode of Psych in one of my posts in this blog that talked about Phishing.

This week, Dexter will be my guy. 🙂

Greener Pastures

Almost anywhere in the world, there are Filipino Overseas Workers or OFW. They are easily hired because they are not just one of the better workers and English speakers, they are also well-educated.

Filipinos can be found working in the hospitality business, engineering firms, healthcare systems, educational institutions, domestic and household work, and even online businesses. Wherever they work, expect the Filipino worker to excel.

I for one, have been able to experience applying for a teaching position overseas. Last year, my hopes got up when I was informed of an opening for my qualifications. I got excited that I immediately went online to look for places where I (and my family eventually) might be able to stay. Would it be near a lake perhaps? Or near the woods? What about the Outer Banks? These were just some of the so many possibilities to choose from. I can dream, can I?

Sadly, I haven’t been called yet because of the ongoing economic difficulties being experienced in this county of my choice.

I haven’t lost hope. Yet.

I hope I can still be able to experience greener pastures while I still can.

Investing Money

The other day, I was listening to colleagues talking about investments.

One was explaining how her mother was able to earn a lot before the stock market started plunging. It was a very wise decision through the advice of a futures trading person that they trusted to handle the sizeable amount.

Of course, investing in the stocks market during these days does not necessarily mean can earn or even get back what has been invested.

Another one further explained that some banks have investment managers who will take care of the money a client will entrust the bank to be able to get a monthly interest that is quite higher than those regular banking transactions.

Hmmm…but the thing is, this is still questionable especially since the market is vulnerable right now.

One thing for sure though, no matter how one will invest his/her money, now is the time to live within one’s means. After all, a penny saved is a penny earned.

Tiny Sand Crab, Another Photo

I have featured this Sand Crab here for Wordless Wednesday and here for Photo Hunter.

But I still want to feature another photo. Why?

Because I have several photos of this tiny creature and I just had to post this last one before the photos are archived.

I remember running after these sand crabs whenever we go to the beach, when I was a young girl. Well, I still do, try to catch them but they are just too fast for me, hiding into their little holes in the sand.

Speaking of sand, it is interesting to note that there are a lot of beaches here in the country with white powdery sand that from afar one would think these are diamond rings glowing.

The beach where I had that photo taken, I do not know why the sand where the waves hit turned black when the rest are not the same. The sand there is not as white as the other places in the country but it still puzzled me so because it was not like that when we went there before.

Minor oil spill perhaps? I hope not. I just want to share this post about the 31 Ways to Save the Ocean Group Writing Project that I joined early this year.
