Looking Forward to Frugal Christmas Year 3

In a few weeks’ time, the -BER months are here. I’m sure there are those who are getting their Christmas thingamajigs ready in time. Decors, multi color led christmas lights, fabrics like curtains, pillow case and table covers, the tree of course and shopping for gifts.

Funny how the malls put Christmas decorations being sold alongside Halloween paraphernalia. Seems like every year, Christmas is becoming more and more about shopping, shopping and more shopping. Commercialism benefits those who are in the business but not those who charge using their plastic.

Gone are the days when simple celebrations are more meaningful and appreciated. Christmas now comes with a price tag and so for this year, we will have a Frugal Christmas Year 3.

Christmas Gift Ideas

Are you done with your Christmas shopping yet?

I’m done. Done with shopping and gift lists because I don’t plan to shop nor did I write a gift list. LOL.

Seriously, with my eyes closed, I can guess a lot of receivers of laptops, tablets and smartphones will be happy come Christmas day.

This being the first day of December means I gotta hurry up and do my round of frugal Christmas chores. That being said, expect me to wish you happiness and joy, without a gift tag 😀

Chocolate Surprise Cookies

Been trying to bake new goodies to give as our Christmas gifts. Yeah, frugal Christmas it is. Again.

Of course, I get to eat what I bake and needless to say, I got four very satisfied family members who love to gobble up the goodies.

So is it any surprise that I look like I am in dire need of the best weight loss supplements?

Chocolate surprise cookies which were good especially when eaten warm. Great with coffee or milk.

Homebaked Brownies

True to my plan to spend frugal Christmas, I was able to bake several batches of brownies to give away to relatives and for my children to munch on.I found these easier to bake than the cookies I planned to do first.

I was even able to bake some butter loaves to give to the children who come a-knocking on the gates on Christmas day for some “aginaldo”. We were even able to give to those plying the streets when we went to hubby’s aunt’s for lunch on the 25th.

Anyway, here are some of the brownies I baked in a photo taken on Christmas eve:

Here’s wishing you all a bountiful 2009 filled with joy, peace and love 🙂

A Pair for Me

Spending a frugal Christmas is not just an idea that propped in my mind for this year. When I came to, I realized we have been doing this for years. Not really, short-changing the expenses but rather being more practical in our ways.

One of the things I have to get for myself is a pair of eyeglasses, consider it as a gift for me. I have survived not wearing one for years but I have a hard time of course. Last Sunday my hubby was bugging me to have a pair done for me when he saw an optical shop beside the donuts store where he got a box from of goodies from.

Were those holiday glass frames from Zenni Optical, the popular online eyeglasses shop?

Hmmm…would this be like the $ 8 complete Rx eyeglasses? I sure would not like to pay for a fortune with these things even if I know I need a pair.

Home-baked Brownies

My goal for frugal Christmas came true as I was able to do the plans I wanted to, including baking goodies to give to relatives and friends.

Here are some of the home-baked brownies that I baked before Christmas. We even had some baked to give to children out in the streets asking for something for Christmas.

There. I baked several batches. My kids of course love it. The batch I sent for me parents were gone in a flash according to my brother who managed to snag just one bar. To think it was just him and my parents living under one roof.

The nephews of my hubby who tasted it said “Parang brownies sa KFC”

I don’t know if that a compliment. Is it?
