Planning Ahead

Creepy as it may seem but I am curious about how many people have insurance coverage on burial services. Preplanning a funeral is not something we should take for granted not because we are excited to meet our Maker but because this will ease the “burden” of costs that will be left with the family.

Should we all do this in anticipation of death?

Are we ready to plan for something we are not anticipating and look forward to experiencing?

Forever

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I’m sure couples are eyeing where to spend this special day. Whether they spend it on a day at the beach, hiking mountain trails, checking in at hotels in orlando, or running a marathon together, sometimes it does not really matter as long as they are together and having a blast.

Of course, being that Valentine’s Day is commercially-driven these days it is no surprise that more and more people find it not too special to spend anymore. For those couples with children, this has become a family affair: dinner, out of town trips or special meals cooked at home.

“Everyday should be like Valentine’s Day” say some and in that note, I have to agree.
Enjoy the sort film as much as I did 🙂

Fresh Juice Drinks

I believe we started the New Year right because we added something new in our food intake: fresh fruit juice everyday. The children drink these fresh fruit juice too and so does the husband.

So far we only missed a weekend of not drinking because we were away at that time.

I still have to feel the benefits and see major changes (hello sexy lingerie, lol/joke) though but one thing for sure, that painful feeling on my shoulder joints are long gone.

Loves Music

The youngest daughter who loves to draw also loves music. She has forgotten though how to play the recorder mostly because her skills were self-taught.

guitar

She got an RJ  guitar for her birthday (that’s her and the hubby) and she watches video tutorials on how to play the guitar. Before she got interested in getting a guitar, she also played the piano and expressed wanting to have her own drum sets for kids. Being busy in school doesn’t give us time for proper guitar lessons yet, so we are targeting summer programs in our area.

I hope we’d be able to find a good program soon.

Bermuda Triangle of Holidays for the Singles

In other countries, the Bermuda Triangle of Holidays is said to start at Thanksgiving, then Christmas and ends at New Year.

Since we live in a country where there is no Thanksgiving, our own Bermuda Triangle of Holidays starts with Christmas, New Year and probably ends with Valentine’s Day. During this time, singles, particularly those whose biological clocks are ticking, indulge in lavish gifting for their favorite loved ones like their nephews and nieces or maybe their parents and of course, their most favorite person: themselves. In spite these things they do, their happiness seem fleeting and they go back to feeling the holiday blues.

I know of one who shops for her nephew as early as September for gifts to be given during Christmas AND New Year. I am not sure though if she looks at the offical ProFlowers Facebook page for flowers to be given to  her mom on Valentine’s Day but I am sure she gives her mom and her nephew gifts during this time too.

Shopping is one of their “therapies” to not feel depressed during these holidays. Yes, they feel sad, even if they are surrounded by laughter, gifts and lavish celebrations because they feel they are missing out on something because they are single.

How do I know? I try to read between the lines of FB and Twitter status messages of my single friends 😀 I hope they won’t hide these from me.

Prom Planning

Their prom is a few months to go and we need to raise funds to be able to pay for our share. By their I mean my eldest child and her classmates. Yes, she is having her prom next year and being in the Juniors class mean they will shoulder all the expenses. *shudders in horror*

So far we’ve, I mean I’ve sold tickets that will help start to fund the fund. We have another batch of tickets to dispose but seeing how everyone seems to be busy spending their money elsewhere, this is going to be a hard sell and the daughter needs to go to other persons who will buy the tickets since I’ve almost saturated “my market”.

Good thing we already have a dress, a borrowed one of her own color (they chose which gown color they will use to avoid duplication). This didn’t stop me from peeking at online sites like www.tjformal for prom dresses for ideas though.

I hope we would be able to raise funds for the prom’s fee because we still have hair and makeup expenses to think about.

Sigh…
