Amherst Laboratory Tour

Last week’s visit to Amherst/Unilab laboratory was a memorable one for me. Not only because I got to bond with mommy bloggers and met new friends but also because I learned something new about the health and well-being of my children.

My first impression regarding the Amherst Laboratory was it was super clean. It felt like we were in a safe and sanitized facility. I was even expecting to see some medical computer carts on the hallways or inside the rooms we managed to see 😀 Even the place where we will wash our hands and dry them looked hi-tech.

I know my article has not been published yet but will be in a while, so I gotta wrap this up now.

Oh, and I have a feverish daughter who is taking the ibuprofen meds I got from the Amherst tour 🙂

Coconut Water

I chanced upon a vendor selling coconut juice or coconut water this morning. I bough two coconuts and the water from these two filled up a pitcher.

Coconut water is known for having potassium and electrolytes. Coconut water is also used by those who have urinary tract problems for cleansing. Not sure though if coconut water helps as colon cleanser but I read and heard somewhere that it does too.

I just asked the son to get me a glass of cold coconut water. It is the perfect refreshing and healthy drink on this hot day.

Skin Care Goodies

I got a bagful of skin care goodies the other day. My daughter doesn’t want to have some of these things like the face powder, sunblock and lip balm that I may have to give some away even if the expiration date is still a long way from today.

This is probably good news to me since that means she is not interested in make up. Yet.

She loves to try products that promise to be the best acne face wash though she always chooses this one product among other brands she has tried.

If only I’m more resourceful and try to exert more effort blend mix and blend, I think she would gladly use skin care preparations using natural ingredients.

Facial Skin Care

Having a teenager in the household includes the quest for the best acne treatments. Hormonal changes bring about these breakouts, among others like behavioral change and mood swings.

Thankfully my daughter is fairly easy to live with save for some episodes of guttural responses or none at all.

She has also taken to using a certain soap for her facial care and would not hear of using another product or brand. Natural skin care concoctions are also a welcome addition and we have tried several mixes already.

I hope other teens out there are open to the suggestion of using natural skin care mixes.

Tomatoes and Eggplant Pasta

Eggplants, garlic, onions and tomatoes cooked in a little olive oil for my spaghetti noodles. A little less sodium oyster sauce to add flavor.

spaghetti

The kids ate this, in fact they even enjoyed it because they had clean plates after a few minutes.

I don’t think I’d be needing a quick weight loss program if I eat like this. But if I reach for that chocolate bar for dessert…

Happy weekend!
