Tobacco Packaging Warning Messages

Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous to Your Health says some of the labels at the back of cigarette boxes. Here is a page about Tobacco Packaging Warning Messages that tells how countries “tell” their smoking population about the dangers of smoking.

So what do smokers do to stop smoking and live a healthier lifestyle? Use electronic cigarettes? Nicotine patches? Chew gums?

With cigarettes being bought by just a piece or several pieces in this country, children are prone to try smoking and give that “cool” look. Vendors sell these to them too. Yes, most smokers start young. And they die young too.

Odd Smell

We smell something odd at night. Every night in fact. It is something that smells sour and makes the throat feel dry. We have the windows closed, in the midst of the stifling 37.5 degrees heat because we try to prevent this smell from entering the house. But we all know that smells, like water, can find even the smallest available hole and make its presence known.

I recounted this to a friend who suggested I contact the authorities because I feel something illegal is being done in the vicinity where we live. No surprises there considering the kind of neighbors we have. I really do think some of them should undergo rapid detox for opiates and rehabilitation. If not some should spend some time behind bars like a couple I know who did that due to selling what they are not supposed to.

I remember some years ago when I contacted the environmental agency for another odd smell, this time of burning rubber and they were able to find where these were located. Far from where we are but strong enough to reach our place.

I really hope this situation will stop soon. Sigh.

I Need to Wake Up Earlier

I really want to continue with my on-again-off-again love interest with running. I even take womens multi vitamins to boost my energy level.

Everything should be cool right? If only I wake up an hour (and a half) earlier to be able to do just that: run without seeing people on the streets where I live. But how can I wake up earlier, I stay up late to watch something for writing assignments? Excuses!

When I mean people, I mean people, since we live a block away from informal settlers littering on the streets day in and day out.

They heckle, cuss, walk without shirts on even if they big bulging tummies and wear jejemon caps. Gah! It is understandable one would desire to go out without them in sight. I don’t mean to discriminate but…

Red Mango Frozen Yogurt

Red Mango Frozen Yogurt, TriNoma

red mango

I was reading about life insurance quotes last night that it slipped my mind to do Food Friday. So I’m doing this today, first thing after I wake up.

Red Mango Frozen Yogurt at TriNoma. Frozen Yogurt is an alternative way to beat the summer heat. This is better than ice cream because it is healthier and contains live bacteria that is good for the body.

Election Promises

In the USA: The House passed on Sunday the Senate’s health care reform bill and a package of measures meant to reconcile differences between the Senate bill and the one it passed last year. Click here to read more.

Why am I interested in this topic when I am half a world away?

A few weeks from today, this country will be having its 2010 Philippine national election. Everyone’s talking about “change“, “reform“, being intelligent voters, computerization of manual voting and counting system as well as voting for the right person who represents the values you hold dear.

We have to admit though, election/campaign time is one of the times we hear what we want to hear, we are promised what we think we deserve and yes, we live in a dreamland, thinking of promised land beyond the campaign period.

Improved health care is one of the more obvious choice of promises being made to be delivered after being  elected.

One of my criteria in choosing the candidate I will vote for would be the one who will prioritize population control.

I hope these priorities will become a reality and not just promises sworn on thin air.

Be More Health-Conscious

Sad news I heard today, a friend’s mother-in-law has just been diagnosed with a stage 3 colon cancer.

A few weeks ago, a friend wrote an informative article about colorectal cancer. I have read it of course but has not taken the important details to heart. But now, I am reading it again and paying attention .

For someone who has been through an open choly years ago, I feel I have a lot of improvement to do regarding my lifestyle especially my diet.

A colon cleanse is also being considered among other things.

There may or may not be a connection with the procedure I went through and this condition but then again, now is always the right time to try to live a more healthy lifestyle, isn’t it?

Have you started a lifestyle change?
