Loves Music

The youngest daughter who loves to draw also loves music. She has forgotten though how to play the recorder mostly because her skills were self-taught.

guitar

She got an RJย  guitar for her birthday (that’s her and the hubby) and she watches video tutorials on how to play the guitar. Before she got interested in getting a guitar, she also played the piano and expressed wanting to have her own drum sets for kids. Being busy in school doesn’t give us time for proper guitar lessons yet, so we are targeting summer programs in our area.

I hope we’d be able to find a good program soon.

On Regifting

The third Thursday of December is said to be the National Regifting Day. I missed it! ๐Ÿ˜€

Two Christmases ago, my friends and I had a regifting exchange gift. Errr… or should I say we exchanged gifts that we haven’t used but think can be of use to others. I got two towels and liquid bath soaps. Yes, we’re still using the towels.

The idea of regifting is good (for me at least) IF and ONLY IF these few guidelines are observed:

  • the gift itself has not been used
  • the gifts don’t have torns and molds
  • the gifts are put in an entirely new package (don’t ever give a present wrapped in Christmas wrappers during Valentine’s Day! No, no, no!)
  • the gifts suit the giftee (give the urinary incontinence products to a grandaunt and not to the young niece or maybe a rap CD for an nephew and not for the uncle)
  • the gifts are clean (or clean it yourself if it has been left to gather dust)
  • the gift did not come from a manufacturer that has long ago closed it’s books (errr… outdated things like these scream regifts!!)

So, in this penny-pinching hard times, regifting is not really tacky, just do it with class and your gifts are as good as new ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas Gift Ideas

Are you done with your Christmas shopping yet?

I’m done. Done with shopping and gift lists because I don’t plan to shop nor did I write a gift list. LOL.

Seriously, with my eyes closed, I can guess a lot of receivers of laptops, tablets and smartphones will be happy come Christmas day.

This being the first day of December means I gotta hurry up and do my round of frugal Christmas chores. That being said, expect me to wish you happiness and joy, without a gift tag ๐Ÿ˜€

Shoes On Sale

Last Saturday night, the kids and I braved the traffic (good thing it was not that horrendous) to go to TriNoma’s green light sale. Hubby had office that day and he I think purposely parked there so he can easily convince us to go.

We got the younger kids new pairs of rubber shoes for PE. We were supposed to get them “weekend” shoes but got disappointed because the velcro part of one pair was dirty.

The eldest child got a new school bag/backpack because she said the backpack we got her felt big. Turned out the backpack she got was the same size, errr…

When we were there, we had to hold hands to avoid any untoward incident. There was a time I could not see my teen I panicked a bit and called her immediately. We heard emergency calls a few times:

Paging the companion of a lost boy/girl wearing ____ named ______ please proceed to customer service

We weren’t able to see more shops because our youngest wasn’t feeling well. One thing for sure, one of the shops that sell funky clothes with tattoo clothing had a crowd inside.

What To Do With Plastic Bottles

If you have plastic water bottles lying around gathering dust, what do you do with these?

Me? I usually give these to Manang, for her to earn a little to help her finances. These plastic beverage bottles along with cereal boxes, egg cartons, plastic bags, and tin cans (just a few tin cans though) I put aside to recycle and give to her, most of the time cleaned already.

This is a good example of what we can do with plastic water bottles:

Nice concept for lighting effects! ๐Ÿ™‚

Prom Planning

Their prom is a few months to go and we need to raise funds to be able to pay for our share. By their I mean my eldest child and her classmates. Yes, she is having her prom next year and being in the Juniors class mean they will shoulder all the expenses. *shudders in horror*

So far we’ve, I mean I’ve sold tickets that will help start to fund the fund. We have another batch of tickets to dispose but seeing how everyone seems to be busy spending their money elsewhere, this is going to be a hard sell and the daughter needs to go to other persons who will buy the tickets since I’ve almost saturated “my market”.

Good thing we already have a dress, a borrowed one of her own color (they chose which gown color they will use to avoid duplication). This didn’t stop me from peeking at online sites like www.tjformal for prom dresses for ideas though.

I hope we would be able to raise funds for the prom’s fee because we still have hair and makeup expenses to think about.

Sigh…
