Cheese Dynamite

Cheese dynamite, a chili pepper with cheese inside, coated with crunchy crumbs. As I have said, it IS the bomb.

Cheese Dynamite

I grabbed the photo from my other blog where I featured Cafe 5845 which will serve varied dishes with cheese daily till the end of August. The food being served are from the same people that gave us 5,845 cheese dishes that got a Guinness Record last December 2009.

Cafe 5845 is located at the North Wing of SM Mall of Asia. It has a lovely garden ambiance but has modern kitchen and lcd monitors for your viewing pleasure.

It is a must-visit indeed.

To the curious: hindi maanghang.

Countryside View

It gives me joy to be able to go home and visit my parents.

heavy clouds

Aside from the fact that I would be able to spend a few hours with my parents, traveling on country road is a relaxing experience for me, seeing so much greenery without billboards and steel buildings blocking the view.

We would probably do a lot of traveling as a family if only we have the time, resources and a house-sitter who can be trusted to be left behind. For now, we don’t have plenty of all three things.

Trouble in the Neighborhood

I am “listening” (meaning webTV is on) to Dateline and got interested in the story about Emery Kauanui Jr who got killed tragically by a group called Bird Rock Bandits. The supposedly safe place they live in had hidden violence, it seems.

There are those whose sons and daughters got caught up in situations like these. I have blogged about my concerns in our neighborhood a few times already. I really hope and pray that nothing like this happens to us. As my daughter said a few times, “bayaan mo sila magkagulo sa labas basta wag nila tayo idamay” “Let them have trouble among themselves, just leave us out of it.”

If only it is as easy as that. Not when I hear heckling from a group of young men walking outside or a young couple berate each other and beat each other physically on the street. In front of our gate. Sigh…

Goldilocks Decorate Your Cake

A small mocha cake, some ready made cake decorations and a little patience and creativity and you’ve got Goldilocks Decorate Your Cake. Woohoo!

DYC

This is a wonderful summer activity for the youngsters and the young-at-heart. I totally forgot about this and should have done this with the children during summer vacation.

Warning: not to be done when sitting on outdoor chaise lounges especially when the heat is scorching. You wouldn’t want your Goldilocks Decorate Your Cake to melt under the sun would you?

Odd Smell

We smell something odd at night. Every night in fact. It is something that smells sour and makes the throat feel dry. We have the windows closed, in the midst of the stifling 37.5 degrees heat because we try to prevent this smell from entering the house. But we all know that smells, like water, can find even the smallest available hole and make its presence known.

I recounted this to a friend who suggested I contact the authorities because I feel something illegal is being done in the vicinity where we live. No surprises there considering the kind of neighbors we have. I really do think some of them should undergo rapid detox for opiates and rehabilitation. If not some should spend some time behind bars like a couple I know who did that due to selling what they are not supposed to.

I remember some years ago when I contacted the environmental agency for another odd smell, this time of burning rubber and they were able to find where these were located. Far from where we are but strong enough to reach our place.

I really hope this situation will stop soon. Sigh.
