Gender Role Reversal

A while ago, I was reading “The Lean Years” in New York Times. I agree that a lot of men are putting less effort in acquiring education and skills. It is as if they have been complacent with their position and content about just making enough to cover the basic needs their families need.

There was this article that I read stating that women nowadays have more skills, get higher educational attainment and therefore earn more than men. Getting a degree and/or studying further is not that difficult these days since one can get accredited online degrees to suit one’s needs and position.

It has even came to a point that for some one-income families, it is the woman who is in the workplace and the man who stays at home.

I know of two three households doing that though it doesn’t bother me: the gender reversal of pre-conceived roles that women stay at home while the men go to work to earn for the family.

I say whatever is more practical and beneficial then families should go for it.

Of Mannequins and Their Sizes

When we went window shopping last Saturday, the kids were laughing at a certain mannequin at one of the sports stores  we went to. My youngest daughter remarked that it was “ang laki ng muscles!” or “the muscles are big!” I looked at the guy mannequin and laughed too, for he looked like he had too much hgh supplements 😀

On second thought, the place was a sports store so a muscled mannequin wearing sports clothes is just fitting. In the clothes section, lady mannequins look like life-size barbie dolls and this does not represent the average woman’s size. Ahem, ahem.

I cringe when I see mannequins with big bosoms and ample hips. Do they really have to do that?

Fitness Regimen or the Lack of It

Saw a friend the other day and I was surprised at how much she lost weight. She talked about her quick weight loss program as well her strict  fitness regimen. Hmmm… it sure is fun to lose weight with buddies it seems.

I used to do morning walks/run two-three times a week but I have lost interest. I only got a play list to accompany me. I see a group of elders who also walk but since I do not know them I did not want to introduce myself to them so I could join them.

I told myself at the beginning of the year that I should step up the yoga that I have started last year but none of that happened. Yet.

At least the family and I do a  once a week walking/running habit. (like its enough huh?)

For now, I need to get up and do something about that slice of chocolate cake hubby and I shared a while ago 😀

Roses and Kisses Cake from Red Ribbon

A different idea: for those wanting to propose their love to their loved one can give this cake as a gift and a carrier of something else. Wouldn’t it be nice to see loose diamonds on a ring on top of the cake? 😀 Woot!
