Long Queue

Last week as I was on my way to the last of the Zumba classes I’ve enrolled in, I saw a lot of people lining up in front of a mall even before opening time.

I got curious of course especially since there was a TV station van near the long queue.

It turned out that there was a job fair in the mall and the people lined up were there to look for and apply for jobs.

Such is the life of newly graduates, trainees whose contract have not been renewed and even those who are looking for better opportunities of getting better work and the perks that go with the better position.

Years ago, looking for a job was not that difficult. The ballooning population had a lot of graduates and non-graduates with very few jobs to apply to.

I remember attending a month-long course and training after I quit my work of one month in the hope of getting into teaching. A few days after the month-long course was over, I got hired not because I applied but because there were plenty of teachers there for a few vacant positions from different schools looking for teachers.

I don’t know if I’d be able to stand in a long queue for hours to be able to hand in an application form or a curriculum vitae. Maybe I’d be able to, for the sake of finding work and better opportunities to make my life better.

Bangusilog from GoodAh!!!

Bangusilog from GoodAh!!!

Hubby and I were looking for a place to have a super late dinner after we had our movie spa date. He suggested we check out the not-so-newly opened GoodAh!!! branch near us.

Bangusilog from GoodAh!!!

There was a wall there with old photos of their branches and this got the hubby and me reminiscing about the few times we went to have late dinners there while we were still dating.

When we got our orders, the food smelled and looked the same except of course, the sizes but now smaller. Hubby’s order of longsilog was a bit of a disappointment because what used to be big longganisas (there used to be three or even 4)  are now reduced to a third of the serving they used to serve. My bangus looked like a young one, only cut in half.

It became a place for reminiscing the old times, and that includes thinking about the food servings then.

Oh well…

UPDATE 10:30pm I asked hubby if he still wants to go back there, the answer was “yes”.

My YSA Diamond Peel Ensogo Voucher Experience

I haven’t written a blog post about my PhP312 YSA Diamond Peel voucher which I bought through Ensogo. Ensogo is one of the many online discount voucher sellers. YSA is a chain of dermatological services clinics in Metro Manila.

YSA/Ensogo

My YSA Diamond Peel experience was good since I didn’t feel the service was short-changed because we only paid for a third of the original price.

I learned a few things when I claimed this service:

  • Don’t wait till the last day to go. I did and there were already a lot of people who are lined up before me. I was the fifth client.
  • Be early. I was early, around 10am but four others were earlier.
  • Be prepared to get bored. I brought along a netbook and went online while I waited for an hour and a half for my turn.
  • Be courteous. There was one client who came in around 11:30am and ranted on and on because she and her 4 other companions will have their turn around 4pm. They can’t go anywhere because they have to wait there. Turned out they had packed lunch in their car. LOL.
  • Be prepared to feel a little pain, especially from the pricking. I don’t use blackhead remover so I guess the staff had a hard time removing those dirt on my big nose.

I ask if I have wrinkles and the staff who serviced me said no, I don’t have wrinkles yet. Yey! But wait! I do have some itty bitty warts starting to make themselves be seen, ugh!

Pixie Bangus

Pixie’s Bangus is one dish we get if we are running a bit late in going home from somewhere and there’s no time to cook. That or we always have it during family dinners with the in-laws.

Pixie Bangus

The smell of Pixie’s Bangus is good enough to whet the appetite. The kids love it too.

Lately though it seems that I might need a table lamp to see the veggies inside the fish OR see the fish underneath a pile of tomatoes. Nah, I’m kidding but I have to admit,  something’s different with this food: less of these tomatoes and onions now compared to 3 years ago and the bangus are smaller and the prices are a bit higher.
