Mina and Irene

We are all home (except the hubby who needs to be at work today because of the 4-day now down to 3-day of no work and no school long weekend) all safe and dry.

The winds are so strong outside we didn’t let the dog out of her cage just in case debris will get flown in and she gets hit. I am worried about the two weather disturbances in the country: Mina (NANMADOL) and I-forgot-if-the-other-one has a name.

While we are being battered (by we I mean those in the extreme North of the country) the East Coast of the USA is also being all stormed by Irene, another girl name for another extreme weather condition.

As of this writing, news reports 6 people who have perished due to the typhoon. The Northern part of the country is where typhoons usually pass by. These people are very resilient and strong. They not only have to deal with extreme hot weather conditions during summer while they depend on water pumps to water their farms and get frustrated when their crops die because of extreme heat, they also deal with floods and torrential rains that destroy their crops during the monsoon season.

I will offer a prayer of protection for these kababayans of mine. I hope they will survive what these weather conditions bring to their places.

Allergy is Not Welcome Here

Aaachooo! Sniff, sniff… aaachooo!

Yes, I’m suffering an allergy episode right now. Must be the weather and also maybe because I have been restless and lacking sleep during the weekend because the youngest child had fever while the son had asthma attack episodes.

When I get tired and lack sleep, when I smell paint and other strong chemical smells and when the weather is gray because the sky is cloudy and there is no sunshine, I suffer.

What would I do without you, sunshine? *giggles at this private joke shared between friends*

I take matters in my own hands when allergy strikes. I drink more vit C, take much needed rest (sleep!) and have natural remedies like teas and what-nots. I just had two raw banana plantains and a cup of warm lemongrass tea with wild honey. And crushed garlic. Argh.

I am not a fan of doctors and hospitals: I am not fond of the smell of antiseptic and hospitals, having a check-up, going to the ER, getting an ecg, and most especially going to an OR (been there once) and DR (been there thrice).

I wish this feeling would go away. Soon. I can’t bear the sniffles and the sneezes.

Philips Music Combo from CashCash Pinoy

Around two weeks ago,  I signed up with Cash Cash Pinoy because the site was offering a good deal: Philips music combo package consisting Philips Sound Machine and a 2gb Go Gear. The hubby and I were planning to get a Go Gear for the younger kids since our eldest child’s Go Gear is still in good condition even after 4 or 5 years since we purchased it. Yeah, we have brand loyalty because earphones she uses are also made by Philips.

The Philips package consisted of Philips CD Portable SoundMachine (Silver) + Philips GoGear Mix MP3 Player 2GB for only PhP3125.00. If I remember it right, the eldest child’s Go Gear was bought at PhP2,500.00 so I thought since we were buying another one, why not get this deal instead?

Hubby said yes and so I signed up and purchased the deal along with two more deals for a restaurant.

Hubby made an over the counter payment at a bank the next day and I immediately emailed the numbers seen in the deposit slips as per instructions. I got an email confirming my purchases.

Last week, I printed the voucher and asked the hubby if he can get the package on Tuesday at their Antel Makati office since he has to go to an office near that building. I gave him my PRC identification card but did not give him an authorization letter. So he went home empty-handed. He was promised that the package will be delivered the next day (Wednesday).

He brought the email, my ID and finally an authorization letter from me to the delivery address AKA MIL’s house early Wednesday morning.

I was there on Thursday but no package came. Sad 🙁

I emailed the site on their facebook page as well as in their official site telling them I am expecting the package because they promised delivery on a Wednesday, and it’s Friday morning already.

After a Friday lunch with my friends, I arrived at my MIL’s house with my student waiting for me AND the package waiting to be opened that has a note that says: “R_____, please prioritize”.

Yey! Finalleh!

The recipients of the Philips Music Combo were all very happy.

So what’s my next CashCash Pinoy purchase? archery supplies at stickemearchery? art supplies? ballet lessons? I’m looking at a spa deal right now because I think I may need these after the exam months.

In a Different Work Setting

So many nursing schools and so many nurses without jobs.

I once saw a former student’s mom who is a nursing instructor in one of the universities in the metro. She told me that she is sad a lot of nurses are “hanging up their nursing scrubs for good” in search for a more lucrative work overseas.

She said something about a cap on nurses being recruited abroad. I could be wrong with what I heard though.

The country has “produced” so many Nursing graduates but either they don’t have a job right now and are in a different work OR has taken a different turn in another profession.

I heard many are geared towards teaching special education.

Most Expensive AdWords

  • Insurance
  • Loans
  • Mortgage
  • Attorney
  • Credit

These five words are among the top 20 most expensive adwords.

How does one know when it is the right time to click here and click there? It depends on how these clickable links are placed in a post/article.

Some links are “accidentally” clicked because they are positioned in places where it is easy to do so. Some links just pop up and catch you by surprise.

Back to the most expensive adwords: I think these are the top expensive adwords due to so a few reasons: bad economy, overused credit cards, mortgage and loans that are not paid in proper time and too much excess that seem absurd at times considering the fragile economy.

Masuki Siopao

Hands down, Siopao is one my son’s fave food among the many food he prefers. Maybe because it is easy to eat being an almost no-fuss food or maybe because it is a “safe” choice.

Here is a big Masuki siopao he ate all by himself.

Masuki siopao

Read about Masuki Chicken Mami here which best pairs with that ginormous siopao.
