That Extra Slice

With Christmas around the corner, one of the foremost things in people’s list of to-do during these holidays would be parties and eating, after shopping.

I have something that is bugging me.

During parties, the main meals are fabulous yes, but if one is asked, its them dessert that makes the eating even more fun. Would one get that extra slice of cake? An extra brownie fudge? An extra scoop of ice cream? An extra topping?

How much could one indulge with that extra something?

Surely its not that bad at all considering its the time to be happy. But on the other hand, one should also think about the consequences about having something extra.

I’m sure, a lot of Hydroxycut reviews will be read after the season is over.

One word of caution though, let’s not over-indulge 😉

Iced Tea or Coca-Cola?

I know. We can’t always feature food, we got to drink too, right?

So I am offering two choices for this FF post: Iced Tea or Coca Cola?

That is what we always have to decide on whenever we eat out. Iced tea or Coca cola?

Do these have the same amount of sugar? Even fruit juices served in restaurants are too sweet. Someone told me before that a bottle or a can of fruit juice has only a tablespoon of real fruit juice and the rest is just water and sugar. Ugh.

So would a glass of water be a better choice?

Sausage Omelet

Ingredients:

3 pieces of sausages (I used those that were bought from Ilocos, given as “pasalubong”)

1 big tomato, diced

1 onion, diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

3 eggs, beaten

1 teaspoon of cooking oil (I use Canola oil)

2 teaspoons of oyster sauce

salt and pepper to taste

a dash of dried basil

Omelet is a perfect food for those on the go. It is easy to do and can be served during any meal. It can be taken with hot rice, fried rice or bread.

I like mine with fried rice and  tomato ketchup.

What is your favorite omelet?

Breakfast

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Filipinos are know to have heavy breakfast of rice, eggs, meat and fruits. Or pancakes, champorado, porridge and pandesal with limitless choices for filling.

For those on the go, the easiest way to have breakfast is by making sandwiches, preparing oatmeal and cereals with milk or having a glass of fruit smoothie.

What is you favorite breakfast meal?

Taking Photos of Food

Taking food photos is a bit tricky.

I admit this is what I need to work on, taking food photos. I have never quite made myself good at this. It is all trial and error of course, which makes me frustrated at times but I am willing to work on it.

This got me thinking about how to take better photos of food.

I think one of the things that make food photos look good is the way it was prepared. Food styling is an art in itself, I believe.

Another thing that makes food photos look good is the lighting. There are restaurants that have good lighting one would think they got maxim lighting stuff.

Let’s take a look at these two food photos that show how lighting make the food look better. These were not altered in any way except by cropping and putting my blog’s name on it:

Arni Sto Fornou or slow roasted leg of lamb served with potatoes and lemon au jus from Cyma in TriNoma during the Bloggers Spot Pass Food Tour last summer

This spread from Mamou in Serendra was for our perusal. I took photos here because the lighting was better than the one where the food were for taking photos. This reminds me that I have not written a post about this leg of the Bloggers Spot Pass Food Tour in Serendra, my bad. I have a post for the Spot Pass Bonifacio High Street Bloggers Food Tour restaurants though for the same blogger event

There are also restaurants with bad lighting that no matter how delicious the food is, and how well it looks, and how wonderfully it was presented, the photos do not do justice to the finished product and that is a sad thing.
