Good Hygiene and Healthy Food

My youngest child asked me a few nights ago: “Ano ba ang pimple? Bakit may pimple” meaning “What is a pimple? Why do we people have pimples?”

I explained to her that people have pimples when they are growing up and their body go through changes. I further explained that in a few years time, she will go through these changes herself and will probably have pimples too just like the big sis and me on certain times of the month.

I thought the discussion was done when she went back to eating her dinner. She asked me again if people can prevent pimples from popping out. I said I’m not sure although there are products that offer the best acne treatments.

I also told her it is important to have a good hygiene and eat healthy food to have good, clear skin.

Ending? She readily washes her face whenever I tell her to do so ๐Ÿ˜€

Skin Care Goodies

I got a bagful of skin care goodies the other day. My daughter doesn’t want to have some of these things like the face powder, sunblock and lip balm that I may have to give some away even if the expiration date is still a long way from today.

This is probably good news to me since that means she is not interested in make up. Yet.

She loves to try products that promise to be the best acne face wash though she always chooses this one product among other brands she has tried.

If only I’m more resourceful and try to exert more effort blend mix and blend, I think she would gladly use skin care preparations using natural ingredients.

No Charging

Some people are shocked to know that I don’t have a credit card. Either I am too poor to afford one (read: too poor to get approval) or I am too much of a miser or I am unwise when it comes to having “emergency spending money”.

My thinking about this is “if I can’t afford it, then I won’t charge it” knowing that even if I don’t know what my credit score is, I don’t worry about interest rates any more than I worry that I wasn’t able to buy that cute dress for my daughter which I can’t afford.

For now, the only things I charge are my gadgets. Heh, corny ๐Ÿ˜€

Gormiti

It used to be that toys are for a certain gender like dolls for girls and toy cars for boys. Well, it still is, to most people, especially the older ones.

In these big toy stores we go to, the invisible demarcation lines of dividing the toys for the boys and toys for the girls is apparent. The girls’ section is all pink and girly-girly while the boys section has bright and bold colors.

As a mother, I can’t remember if I made it clear to my children that they can only play some toys due to their gender. For one, our youngest daughter loves guns, robots, swords, shields and police-related paraphernalia. As a matter of fact as I tucked her to sleep a while ago, I sat on a Gormiti character on the bed. Ouch.

Yep, that is what her current favorite is now: Gormiti characters. Not that I don’t mind her liking these and playing the online game but asking us to get.her.one.character.after.another is not really funny.

We must work harder with her studies and perhaps she might get what she wishes for ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wish List

I have a secret wish list. This wish list is known to my husband and children though.

In it are the things I think I (ok WE) need.

In the list are mostly tangible things that I wish to have because I need them to make life and living easier. The items in the list are possible to have IF ONLY… or AFTER WE SETTLE THIS AND THAT RESPONSIBILITY…

I guess I am a patient person since most of the items in my wish list can be had IF I insist but still I wait for a better opportunity AND I wait until I am sure there is no other responsibility that will be forgotten.

I’m sure the children understand because they are patient too, waiting for us until we are ready to fulfill their wishes too.

I also make sure I don’t get these items in the wish list when I know some are out of reach or even out of sight.

I know we have to work harder in order to see that the things in my wish list are granted.

For how long? Until we can manage to make do without these. Continue Reading »
